Previous history of Edith
 The parents consult for their baby, 20 days old, who suffers from sleep disorders. The baby, a little girl, has an elder brother who lives in a vegetative state since an accident. In the course of relating their own history, the parents reveal the elements of an intergenerational transmission : this son, who became disabled, had the special mandate to reassert the value of men for the two parental
constellations.
The parents consult for the first time without Edith. They recall the beginning of their couple in particular conditions. Then, the mother describes her family history, and especially that of her father, a swindler, drinker and skirt-chaser, casted out by her mother. Edith's father had also no father and assumed a paternal function for his brothers.
The second consultation occured a week later. That time, the parents come with the baby. The mother proclaims she is mother because her daughter looks at her. For the father, it is difficult to feel himself being a real father and to assume the comparison of his daughter with his elder son.
